In 1994 and 1995, with songs like Only Wanna Be With You and Hold My Hand, Hootie & the Blowfish played on radio waves across the US and Canada. These became the songs of choice for many a driver’s personal version of Carpool Karaoke throughout the mid-’90s. Many die-hard fans of the band Hootie & the Blowfish haven’t forgotten the vocal stylings of lyric tenor Darius Rucker being backed by musicians Jim Sonefeld, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber and, occasionally, Brantley Smith. The band garnered huge success with its album Cracked Rear View, and in addition to Only Wanna Be With You and Hold My Hand rising to the top of the charts, songs like Time, Let Her Cry and Drowning all became popular tunes from that album. Seeing a Hootie & the Blowfish concert means a chance to sing along again like it’s 1995.
