SUMMARY:5th Annual Johnson Park Music and Arts Festival
DESCRIPTION:Now in its 30th year\, IDEA Center for the Arts™ operates at the intersection of the arts and good health\, building communities and contributing to the well being of Camden and South Jersey residents. IDEA’s free\, quality arts’ and workforce development programs empower youth and children to live fulfilling lives. In that vein\, the Johnson Park Music and Arts Festival was created by the IDEA Center for the Arts™ and the Rutgers-Camden Digital Studies Center Program in partnership with the Rutgers Institute for the Study of Global Racial Justice\, Rutgers AAUP-AFT\, Camden Special Services District\, and the Cooper-Grant Neighborhood Association. \nThe purpose of this celebration is “for the healing of the nation\, city and tribes”; A day of reflection into our past\, as we create a solid foundation of hope for the future. In past years we hosted 60 local visual artists and craft vendors\, more than 500 attendees\, student art groups\, live music\, food\, activities\, community resources and more! For this year’s event we will be featuring the musical stylings of Greg Osby\, Nasir Dickerson\, SoundEVR and the RaiSan Sings Trio\, along with presentations from local community organizations. You’ll see painters working on new pieces\, photographers taking portraits\, jewelry makers assembling their designs\, and printmakers creating art on the spot. It’s all about the process!\n\nYou’ll also find 20 local vendors offering handmade goods like artwork\, clothing\, books\, accessories\, skincare\, and more. Support local artisans and discover something new!\n\nDon’t forget to pop into our resident downtown businesses for quick bites and special shopping experiences.\n\nThe Kids Corner at 3rd and Market will be open for coloring\, chalking\, and giant games.\n\nLive musical performances from SoundEVR and Tony Perez & the Latin Wave\, who will keep Market Street grooving all afternoon!\n\nCome for the art\, stay for a fun summer evening full of entertainment and community.\n\nFREE parking will be available at the 2nd and Cooper Lot.
